Moonlight mile

Forget metric - Glasgow is going imperial for Saturday's headline act, with the iconic Mile returning to the Commonwealth Games programme. It could not be better timed for Scottish supporters: this could be a night that is talked about for decades. Josh Kerr (pictured), the newly crowned world-record holder, gets another crack at the distance - and athletics immortality - in front of a delirious EDF Scotstoun Stadium crowd.

Saturday night’s alright (for fighting)...

… provided it is overseen by World Boxing. Luckily, Glasgow 2026 is fully sanctioned, and we have got all the divisions concluding in what has been a high-quality programme. Scarlett Delgado of Canada takes on India's Preeti Preeti in the opening bout - the Women's 54kg, presented by Amul - and we will work our way up the weights before concluding with the big boys, the Men's 90+kg.

Para Track Pyrotechnics 

The standard of Para Athletics competition at Glasgow 2026, presented by Longines, has been exceptionally high, and Saturday could bring a bonanza of record breaking. Defending champion Nathan Maguire of England features in the Men’s 1500m T54 event, while the Women’s 400m T54 and Women’s 200m T38 Finals could be among the most exciting races of the entire Games.

Velo, I love yous 

The Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome at Glasgow International Arena has been a boisterous hothouse of record breaking and Anglo-Welsh-Scottish-Australian combat. Welsh wonder Anna Morris goes in the gruelling 25km Points race, while Nicholas Paul of Trinidad and Tobago plots to put the disappointment of not defending his Keirin title on Friday behind him in the Sprint and 1km Time Trial. Neil Fachie, who could be riding his last race when he goes in the Men's Tandem B Sprint, will be the local hero, and Australian Jessica Gallagher is also looking to end her career on a high as she contests the Women's Tandem B 1000m Time Trial.
